About this site ...and a few other things

Layout: The previous layouts of the site have been sparse to graphic heavy. The new verison had 2 purposes. One was to reduce the amount of graphics to a theme and the second was to be dependent on my own work and not the work produced by the Three Rings staff. It's rather obvious that I pay homage to the style, but have placed too much stock in emulating the look of the game and less on creating an identity for the comic.
The header features Sera looking out over the vast ocean, and the site encompassing it's depths. The color scheme is pulled from the picture. The font used is Windlass appropriately and the fonts used on the site are either Times New Roman, or Verdana. The pages also make more use of PHP due to the use of the webcomic handler Walrus and iFrames for various content.
Art produced for the site was planned in openCanvas, and touched up in Photoshop. Coding is a combination of Dreamweaver, NoteTab Light (a buffed up verision of Notepad) and Notepad. The site itself is hosted by Hostgator along with a few of my other projects. The Chibi Pirates blog is a community hosted at LiveJournal.

Comic: The basic concept of The Depths is obviously based on Puzzle Pirates. The story itself started as a creative effort to rediscover my own art through the simplicity of the Game's basic theme in design. The story is something that evolved out of the character dynamics, hence the reason it's unfocused in the begining. It wasn't until episode 10, I had a definate idea where the story was going. The basic plot settled, with the ability to grow based on new releases that would normally stall the plot.

Yohoho Puzzle Pirates: A MMORPG with emphasis on pirates outwardly, and puzzles as the "cogs" of the game's world. With none of the flashy 3D CGI of most games, it is highly accessable to most PC users. It achives a teen rating only due to the inclusion of rum as the primary resource to fuel players pirates. While I really can't thank the developers enough for this unholy union of puzzle games and modern MMORPG, I can say that I have had the opportunity to make friends, explore my doodles, and make a few people smile enough to want to try a really fun game.

Obaba: The author and artist. I am not a professional in any of this, but I had a story to tell. As I grew in my confidence, the comic and story grew as well. I came into the telling as a result of a long period of depression before I started playing YPP again. A few players commissioned work from me early on before I retired from that as a supplimentary form of piratey income. Special thanks go to Dartwith, Briamah, Dorel, Jericho, Ramus, Indeed, Sanders, Pokey and others that made a difference in helping in Sera's birth and upbringing on Midnight.
